When it comes to collar colour this year, green is the new white. ‘Green-collar’ workers are employed in every sector of the economy, and they can be in great demand.

Just ask Jame Zaiyouna. As part of his studies in Seneca’s Green Business Management program, Jame worked with a local company to minimize its environmental footprint. Using his Seneca training, he developed a sustainability plan, recommending efficiency improvements to the company’s overall power and water usage.

“The Green Business Management Program allows us to use our backgrounds — I have a financial and accounting background — to enhance businesses,” he says. “There’s a green trend that’s beginning on Parliament Hill and Capital Hill, on Wall Street and Bay Street, so this is not going to go away. I feel that if you were to come into this program, you’d be on the first floor of a potentially great industry.”

Seneca’s Green Business Management program offers graduates a way to differentiate themselves and gain an employment advantage in the competitive business sector. Students gain project and change management skills to incorporate environmental sustainability into an organization.
